'Law & Order' twist: Erbe in, Nicholson out!

Law & Order: Criminal Intent is temporarily merging half of its A and B Teams.

Kathryn Erbe has agreed to fill in for the very pregnant Julianne Nicholson while the latter is on maternity leave, sources confirm to me exclusively.

The move means that for the final four episodes of CI's current eighth season (premiering this Sunday on USA), Erbe will alternate between her current partner, Vincent D'Onofrio, and Nicholson's new partner, Jeff Goldblum.

Hey, that wasn't nearly as scandalous as the accompanying headline seemed to imply!

wait a second, is Julianne pregnant again? Wasn't she out for half of the 7th season because she was pregnant? Though this will provide for a fun new turn things can take. Just wonder, none of this would have been an issue had there not been filming issues and head writer issues with the Goldblum/Nicholson episodes.

Yes - I guess I will have to watch some Goldblum epi's as well.

I hope this is just an idea to keep Vincent & Katie's fans tuned in on the off weeks; and not a test of whether they should dump Vincent (and Juliane) from the lineup.

Yes - I'm cynical - still anxiously awaiting Sunday!!!
