Vincent D’Onofrio, Paul Sorvino and Vinnie Jones have joined Ray Stevenson, Christopher Walken and Val Kilmer in Code Entertainment’s The Irishman.
Lightning Entertainment is pre-selling in Cannes.
Shooting is set to begin next week in Detroit on the story of Boston Irish gangster Danny Greene’s fearsome battle with the US mafia. Jonathan Dana and ICM are representing North American rights.
Jonathan Hensleigh is directing from a screenplay he co-wrote with Jeremy Walters, inspired by Rick Porrello’s To Kill The Irishman: The War That Crippled The Mafia.

It seems that Vince has been pigeon-holed into doing Mafia films...between the Narrows, Staten Island and this...whats up Vinny???
I think I remember him saying he won't do a mushy/soapy type movie again...so I guess this is it..but come on Vince, you were so good in Happy Accidents, Dying Young, etc...Do something romantic!!!
So, how is he going to die this time....?!
I'm not too far from the Detroit area--I wonder where they will be filming?
Happy to hear Vincent's got another new project that I can look forward to seeing. He never disappoints!
Briena, you are right, Vince was quoted as saying he didn't want to be pigeon holed into doing Mafia type roles. Hell, he even turned down The Sopranos, but he was younger then, had is health and single. Now, he's older, has a bigger family and his health, who knows. Looks like it might be slim pickens for him now, bills to pay and mouths to feed, so get what you can get. But who cares?! I love his acting so if that's what he's going to be doing, that's what I'll be watching. Maybe he'll get blown up this time? Set on fire? So many possibilities...
ahaha yeah I live across the river, I'd make the trip down to get a shot at seeing VDO in real life!
Anyone got info where they will be shooting?
Or.... may Mr. D'Onofrio liked the script/director and the idea of working with Paul Sorvino (any guess as to who the US mafia are going to be? LOL) and (hopefully) a scene or two with Val Kilmer again appealed to him.
I'd love to see at least a scene with VDO and Christopher Walken.
That would ROCK, kathy!
