Fans start online campaign to save Law and Order CI stars D'onofrio and Erbe
Fans of Law and Order: CI are mad.
After doing a few articles on the departure of the CI stars Vincent D'onorio[sic] and Kathryn Erbe, I received lots of comments. All of them angry about the drastic change and sudden decision to phase out the popular actors.
There is now a grassroots effort to save the actors, which would in turn, save the show.
Save Goren and Emes.[sic]
There is some info there to contact...Full article

Money behind Law and Order CI removal of D'onofrio and Erbe
As reported earlier this week, the USA network has decided to phase out the "heart and soul" of L/O C/I. Kathryn Erbe and Vincent D'onofrio.
Fans are not happy, to say the least. Some are choosing to no long watch the show if the stars leave, while others are protesting in a louder and unified voice.
Below is some information that was brought to my attention. Obviously, I can't verify it. However, read it and I will explain a few things after. Full article

OT: Walk for the Animals
We'd like to pass on the following information to fellow animal lovers.-- Thanks
-- Or you may make a general donation here.
-- Also, you can add a message to the Virtual Wall Walk to your special animal for just $5 when you register as a virtual walker.
~THANK YOU FOR HELPING THE ANIMALS~

This sweet border collie was one of the dogs rescued recently, thanks to generous donations.
Rescue of Dogs from Alleged Tennessee Puppy Mill
From Humane Nation: On Oct. 10, the National Mall will go to the dogs for our fourth annual Humane Society Walk for the Animals, which The HSUS co-hosts with the Washington Humane Society. If you’re in the D.C. area, I hope you can join us from 10am to 2pm at the Constitution Gardens. But even if you live outside of the D.C. metro area, you can still join us in helping millions of homeless animals by signing up to be a virtual walker.
The Walk raises funds to end pet homelessness at both the local and national level, and now that animal lovers nationwide can participate, we have yet another opportunity to do more for dogs and cats. Last year, we raised more than $156,000 to support local and national programs such as pet adoption and spaying and neutering. You can help us build an even larger war chest this year in our effort to promote sterilization and to combat puppy mills—the two focus areas for this year’s walk.
Both local and virtual walkers can register online before Oct. 7 and then build a personal fundraising page in honor of a special pet or on behalf of an animal rescued by The HSUS or WHS (you can read stories and browse photos of animals who have been given a second chance at life). Registration is free for virtual walkers and, if you raise $50 or more, we’ll send you this year’s Walk T-shirt—so it’s just like you were there.
Near or far, I hope you’ll join us and walk for a special animal, or animals, in your life.

It's official: Vincent D’Onofrio to exit 'Law & Order: CI'
EW, 9.25.09
by Michael Ausiello
USA Network is finally confirming what I first hinted at last week: Vincent D’Onofrio is exiting Law & Order: CI. He’ll say good-bye in the show’s two-part season 9 premiere, at which time he’ll pass the baton to co-star Jeff Goldblum.
“I have always been, and have always viewed myself, as a character actor, and the great opportunity that Dick [Wolf] presented to me to develop the Goren character on Criminal Intent was successful beyond my wildest expectations,” D’Onofrio said in a statement. “After eight seasons, and with the addition of Jeff Goldblum, now is the perfect time for me to explore other acting opportunities and I leave the show knowing it is in great hands with Jeff. For all my loyal CI fans, I wouldn’t be surprised if Goren pops up from time to time.”
D’Onofrio’s longtime partner, Kathryn Erbe, is expected to return for the two-parter as well, although her deal is still being finalized. As previously reported, My Own Worst Enemy’s Saffron Burrows is expected to replace her.

USA confirms 'L&O: CI' departure
By Nellie Andreeva
Vincent D'Onofrio leaving at the start of upcoming season
USA Network on Friday confirmed that "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" star Vincent D'Onofrio will leave the series at the beginning of the show's upcoming ninth season.
D'Onofrio has been on "CI" since the show's beginning as a series on NBC, portraying Detective Robert Goren.
"(D'Onofrio) has decided to transition out of the idiosyncratic role he created to explore new acting challenges in film and television," the network said Friday.
According to "Law & Order" creator/executive producer Dick Wolf, D'Onofrio will appear in a two-part opener of season nine that will serve as his hand-off to Jeff Goldblum.
"Vincent is one of the main reasons 'Criminal Intent' has been so successful for eight seasons. He turned Robert Goren into one of the great detectives in the history of television," Wolf said.
D'Onofrio addressed the timing of his departure.
"After eight seasons, and with the addition of Jeff Goldblum, now is the perfect time for me to explore other acting opportunities and I leave the show knowing it is in great hands with Jeff," he said.
But he left the door open to returning on the show for guest starring stints.
"For all my loyal 'CI' fans, I wouldn't be surprised if Goren pops up from time to time."
D'Onofrio's departure is part of a major casting overhaul on "CI" next season.
He is one of four regulars on the show, along with Kathryn Erbe, Eric Bogosian and Julianne Nicholson, leaving. New mom Nicholson is being replaced by Saffron Burrows.
Thanks Linda!

Vincent D'Onofrio exiting 'Criminal Intent'
The Hollywood Reporter, 9.24.09
By Elizabeth Guider and Roger Friedman
"Law & Order: Criminal Intent" is planning dramatic cast changes for next season, with four regulars, including star Vincent D'Onofrio, departing.
D'Onofrio is expected to exit sometime during the series' upcoming ninth season, handing over his badge to Jeff Goldblum as the top detective on the major case squad.
Kathryn Erbe, who, like D'Onofrio, has been with the show since its beginning and plays his long-suffering partner Alex Eames, also will be phased out, as will Eric Bogosian, who plays the force's captain, Danny Ross.
As previously reported, Julianne Nicholson, who played Goldblum's partner but has just had a baby, her second, also is leaving. She's being replaced by British actress Saffron Burrows.
Details about D'Onofrio, Erbe and Bogosian's exit are still unclear as the actors' deals are being worked out. The network only recently renewed the Wolf Films/Universal Cable Prods. series for a ninth season, slated to premiere in late spring with a two-parter.
....While D'Onofrio is departing as a regular, it is possible for him to reprise his character in guest stints.

Cast changes afoot at `Law & Order: Criminal Intent'; Vincent D'Onofrio will depart cop drama
By: LYNN ELBER, Associated Press, 9.25.09
LOS ANGELES — Changes are afoot at "Law & Order: Criminal Intent," with charter cast member Vincent D'Onofrio exiting the USA Network series and recent recruit Jeff Goldblum taking over full-time.
D'Onofrio's character, Detective Robert Goren, will say goodbye in a two-hour hand-off episode to open the ninth season early next year, "Criminal Intent" creator and executive producer Dick Wolf said Friday.
Goldblum, who joined the series last season, will continue as Detective Zack Nichols in the NYPD Major Case Squad.
"After eight seasons, and with the addition of Jeff Goldblum, now is the perfect time for me to explore other acting opportunities," D'Onofrio said in a statement.
He added, "I wouldn't be surprised if Goren pops up from time to time."
"Criminal Intent" premiered on NBC in 2001 with D'Onofrio as the series' sole lead. From 2005 through Goldblum's arrival, Chris Noth co-starred on an alternating basis with D'Onofrio.

More Andre Braugher!
by Nick Zaino
[Pictured: Andre Braugher as House's Dr. Darryl Nolan]
excerpted...The back and forth between Braugher and Laurie reminded me a bit of the "Subway" episode of Homicide, much of which concentrated on Braugher and Vincent D'Onofrio, who played a man stuck between a subway car and the platform who would die once the car was moved. That was a legendary episode, and "Broken" ranks up there with it.
Since it's been more than ten years since Homicide last aired, here's a refresher of that episode. Most of the best interactions happen later on, but you can't just watch part of this episode, so here's part one from YouTube:

Actor helps 'sell' detox program
By Emiley Morgan, Deseret News, 9.21.09

As time has passed, the actor has come to see their battles as his battles.
D'Onofrio, who has played detective Robert Goren on "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" since 2001, was in Utah Friday in an effort to raise awareness of a local project aimed to help local law enforcement officers.
The Utah Meth Cops Project began in 2007 after Attorney General Mark Shurtleff went to New York looking for a way to "give back to law enforcement." What he found was a detoxification program used to treat 9/11 responders and others who worked at ground zero that could also be used to treat law enforcement officers exposed to methamphetamine.
Utah is now one of three states that have the facilities to treat cops who have been exposed to meth. These officers are trained and equipped to deal with meth lab situations, but D'Onofrio said it is important to realize that these officers often walk into meth labs while responding to seemingly unrelated incidents.
"There's a call for a disturbance … and they need to find someone in a room and suddenly they're in a meth lab," D'Onofrio said. "They can't leave, can't go back and get their special suits. They have to get everything under control and finish the job."
Al Acosta, a 13-year narcotics officer who underwent the program, said these uniformed officers are often equipped with very little. "At best they have rubber gloves," he said.
Regardless of what they are wearing, meth lab exposure takes its toll, causing a variety of symptoms ranging from aching joints to fatigue and irritability. The program has been used to treat 56 officers in Utah, but there are still 120 officers on a waiting list and more still who may not even know the program exists.
"The key, since there is so much evidence of the officers suffering through the pain … is to bring awareness so the project is more legitimate in the eyes of city and state and so the officers and their families know about the program," D'Onofrio said.

Shakeup brewing at "Law & Order: CI"
Ausiello Files, 9.16.09
USA Network is finalizing a deal to bring Law & Order: CI back for a ninth season, but there’s a catch. Actually there are a few catches. Here’s what I’m hearing…
* Julianne Nicholson is out. The actress, who recently gave birth to her second child, has opted not to return. Saffron Burrows (My Own Worst Enemy) has emerged as the frontrunner to replace her.
* Burrows would be partnered with Jeff Goldblum, although his deal is also not 100 percent done.
* Where does that leave Vincent D’Onofrio and Kathryn Erbe? The CI vets are in talks to return in some capacity.
Thanks MarieDeFrance, Nantz and Drew!

Vincent D'Onofrio to headline police fundraiser
Salt Lake Tribune, 9.9.09
by Nate Carlisle
TV cop raising money for real Utah cops
Actor Vincent D'Onofrio, of "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" and the film "Men in Black," will headline a fundraiser to help Utah police who say methamphetamine sickened them.
The fundraiser will be Sept. 18, said Paul Murphy, spokesman for Utah Attorney General Mark Shurtleff, and is expected to raise money for detoxification treatments for the officers. Murphy said Shurtleff will attend, but other details were not available Wednesday.
A number of former or current Utah police officers claim methamphetamine labs or exposure to the finished drug left them with cancers, neurological problems and other assorted ailments. A few dozen have undergone the detoxification treatment, which utilizes a regimen of exercise and a diet of antioxidants.
Science has yet to support the officers' claims of poisoning by methamphetamine or that the detoxification treatment is effective.
D'Onofrio's sister and brother-in-law opened a Rib City franchise in Sandy in 2007 and later another franchise in American Fork. The Sandy restaurant closed earlier this year. Last year, D'Onofrio held fund raisers at both restaurants to raise money for such police causes as "Shop With a Cop" and a memorial for officers killed in the line of duty.
