Fans start online campaign to save Law and Order CI stars D'onofrio and Erbe
Fans of Law and Order: CI are mad.
After doing a few articles on the departure of the CI stars Vincent D'onorio[sic] and Kathryn Erbe, I received lots of comments. All of them angry about the drastic change and sudden decision to phase out the popular actors.
There is now a grassroots effort to save the actors, which would in turn, save the show.
Save Goren and Emes.[sic]
There is some info there to contact...Full article
Thanks Dani!

Money behind Law and Order CI removal of D'onofrio and Erbe
As reported earlier this week, the USA network has decided to phase out the "heart and soul" of L/O C/I. Kathryn Erbe and Vincent D'onofrio.
Fans are not happy, to say the least. Some are choosing to no long watch the show if the stars leave, while others are protesting in a louder and unified voice.
Below is some information that was brought to my attention. Obviously, I can't verify it. However, read it and I will explain a few things after. Full article

Elizabeth D'Onofrio posted (post titled "Family Affairs") about Vincent leaving CI on her blog - sent in by Briena, thanks!

Keep up the good work folks! Send your emails daily and postcards as often as possible!
I think USA are starting to get rattled....banning people on Twitter from making a peaceful protest. Deary dear, are we 'getting' to you, sweeties??! GOOD!
Maybe we should keep things in perspective. This argument about money is based on one insider source, so its hearsay.( well done Basric for getting the insider information).
While Im sure money was an issue on the table,it hasnt been represented in any of the official press released comments. The issues this insider mentions could also be about tieing up ends, but the end could already have been in place.
VDO mentions "other film and TV work". He wont be leaving the screen and may already be committed elsewhere.
Nor would I discredit Sam who brought the news about "Puntland". This person always gave authentic information in the past, and Stefanl on Major Case found a cast list for a new LOCI episode a few weeks ago, just before Peachy closed the site.
Er....reference the 'Vincent D'Onofrio is on Facebook' link, personally I'd be a bit wary - actually, I'd be VERY wary. There was a huge article in my newspaper the other day about how many Fake- Facebook pages are out there. They contacted several well known people to check if it was actually them doing the 'Facebooking'. Surprise! It was 'news' to them, and some were threatening legal action if the pages weren't taken down. Let's face it, given the anonimity of the Internet, ANYONE can start blogging/posting as Vincent..and such a shy and private man, with a family and a busy career is going to spend time Facebooking to the universe when he mostly tries to stay out of the media spotlight? Think about it....
Just to add, apart from the fact it was clear the character development of Goren ended with Frame in season 7 and what followed was repetitious which must be stifling for any character actor, the show did not do well in Season 8. For the comparable summer period the average viewership for season 8 fell to 3.9million from 4.5 million in season 7. In addition, for those who seem to think age demo is important, the mean average age of a viewer is 59 and thats the oldest average for any USA show.
Goldblum did not bring in a huge following, however "fresh" some people found it. The return to typical procedural stories, though it might satisfy a few Law and Order luddites, did not encourage popularity. All in all Im surprised USA didnt cancel it altogether.
The marketing of Goldblum was completely different from anything weve seen before, and alot of us said so at the time. He came in and took over, which is why USA doesnt even have to change their publicity photos because Goldblum is already in the foreground! Goren has virtually disappeared even there.
If people want further confirmation chack out Elizabeth D'Onofrios blog. Apparently she clearly states it was entirely VDO's intention to leave and not renew contract. He is a great character actor after all and knows when the time is ripe.
I also find it obnoxious that this campaign has been hijacked and whipped up by certain people particular to one site, who spent the last three years on various sites and under different names, consistently attacking VDO for his weight and morality and interpretion of character. Now they turn round and expect him to come back. Its an insult.
I dont include the genuine fans in this, just those who consistently enjoyed maligning him.
I really believe Vincent wanted to leave the show to pursue other projects. We are going to miss "bobby", but people, we still have Vincent! He hasn't said he's leaving acting. We'll see him in movies and doing other roles.
I was surprised, however, to hear that Kathryn and Eric are leaving. I was hoping they would let Kathryn expand her role. She is such a good actress and I always felt "they" held her back. I would have liked to have seen Eric in larger roles too. The show had so much potential!
Jeff is a good actor, but he has his job cut out for him. He has to win over a whole knew LOCI fan base. We "bobby" fans have to let go and that is hard.
Okay, so as I've mentioned, I work in the TV industry, I heard there is to be a big shake up at NBC Universal - they are being bought - huge news and not sure when its happening!!! Maybe this is going to be a good thing, the new company, which has mucho dolores might want to save LOCI..Ya dig? I'm just hoping!
Why don't I walk right up to him and ask?
Elizabeth D'Onofrio has said on her blog that Vincent didn't renew his contract.
and
Lizzie has forwarded a Q&A from the Ausiello Files -
Question: Vincent D'Onofrio can't leave Law & Order: CI! Did he quit or was he fired? —Jacob
Ausiello: Quit?! That's hilarious! Thanks for the laugh. I needed that.
Yes,Viviendi is selling their shares in NBCUniversal, and there is an indcation that General Electric wants to sell also. The cable company Compast may have expressed an interest.
But this could go either way for the Law and Orders, which arent pulling good ratings this season. Mothership was on the bubble two years running and some viewers feel the show has become too polemical which is not good drama.
NBC seems to be moving towards limiting its schedule to something like a smaller cable concern,so maybe that might enable a take over. But if so,scripted dramas might go altogether.
Lots of possibilities and lots of problems
