D'Onofrio & Erbe's deafening silence....

Examiner.com, 10.07.09

Law and Order:CI Vincent D'onofrio Kathryn Erbe. A deafening silence

First phone call of this morning was to Bill Butler's office at the Gersh Agency in New York, they represent Kathryn. I called them last week and received a curt "no comment." The call today went to the same office, the same person answered. I asked several questions about...announcements forthcoming, New films, Negotiations, the jars of fluff fans are sending to USA. I got in answer "No Comment" "No Comment" "No Comment" and "We had a meeting and were told to say 'No Comment'". No fear rep at Butler's office, you did your job well.

Now we know something is difinitely up or there would be something more than "No Comment," there would be, "an annoucement is coming," or something similar. Why not just say Kathryn is moving on, whatever.

Since there was a meeting where people were told to say "No Comment," one must logically think there is something Gersh agency doesn't want to talk about. The big secret is probably negotiations are ongoing. Full article

Rene Balcer on Producing Law & Order

...When I briefly touched on the recent news and resulting turmoil about the mass exits at Law & Order Criminal Intent, and I mentioned that the “whole gang” was leaving he commented, “Well, we’re not sure if the whole gang is going to leave so who knows?

Thanks river!

Law & Order: Criminal Intent Loyalists Unleash Deadly Fluffalanche

With great sadness, Movieline reported two weeks ago that Law & Order: Criminal Intent was discharging several key characters from its force including Goren and Eames, the beloved lead detective team played by Vincent D’Onofrio and Kathryn Erbe. Instead of sitting tight while Criminal Intent writers transition Jeff Goldblum’s ivory-tickling, ethnic food loving, matinee-catching detective (and whichever actor they recast as his straight partner) as the program’s top bananas, Goren/Eames fans are banding together. On October 16, USA Networks will be deluged with jars of marshmallow filling, the same Fluff fans allege they will be watching if the network does not renew D’Onofrio and Erbe’s contracts. The thot plickens. ;-) I don't know what to believe, but I do know that as long as Vincent & Kathryn are going to be okay (which I really hope is the case), then I'm ok with things.

I was going to ask if anyone had heard any comment from Katie regarding the whole thing.

My understanding is that Vincent is going to be in the 2-part opener - but Katie's name was never mentioned. Perhaps that is why her people are not commenting.

Everyone sign that petition and get everyone you know to - yesterday there were only a little over 100 signatures.

Not that I think this will do any good (or the fluff campaign), but at least we can vent and Vincent and Katie will know we will miss them.

USA made such a huge mistake - I'm dumping their network. I'm only watching Goren/Eames or some of the Logan episodes - no Nichols in my house!

And this is tough, since most of my TV watching was on USA. I usually watched SVU and NCIS - and I did like In Plain Sight, but the network has no one to blame when their ratings drop - to paraphrase Alex Eames "All Their Wounds Are Self-Inflicted!!!"

I don't know what to believe anymore, but do we know if this person works for a legitimate newspaper or magazine? By that, I mean this is a website she's writing on, and she recently took a comment someone posted elsewhere and reprinted it, word for word, without checking the source, or that the information she was reprinting was correct, which seems very strange behaviour for a professional journalist. Maybe she's getting 'No comment' from everyone because they have no idea who she is, and they're not going to give some kind of a 'scoop' to someone they're not sure about? Just a thought ;0)

Vincent's sister said in her blog that he had told her he was not renewing his contract, but she put a date in 2008.

It's different from the story that came from the NBC insider. I think they've been peed on from a great height.

WHAT IF??: Family Values should have been Vincent's last episode, but he was asked (begged) to stick it out one more year while they got someone better than Chris to carry the show, the theory being that Jeffs hollywood, could lure new fans and appease old ones??

Just a theory.

Balcer gave an interview on that site? So he casts the net of uncertainty and doubt to catch a silver fish. Very existential!

I see Southland got cancelled because NBC NOW consider it "too dark and gritty", when once it wanted it because it was "dark and gritty".

Methinks there is a sea change at NBC, thats it becoming a light entertainment cable channel of chat/reality show/sports etc. Its specializing and even the Law and Orders may go. After all Balcer has other projects lined up for 2010 which will enable him to be more creative.

Decisions about LOCI may be part of all this bigger decision making.
