"Chlorine" wraps up filming
by Tara Kolton | 2.1.10

Lakeland grad returns home to shoot film

A quiet neighborhood in Ringwood is buzzing with excitement, as it has become the unexpected set of an independent movie over the past five days.

"Chlorine," starring Kyra Sedgwick and Vincent D'Onofrio, and directed by Jay Alaimo, wraps ups its final scenes today (Sunday, Jan. 31), after shooting at a house located on Juniper Terrace since Wednesday.

Nik Belcevich, the film's executive producer, goes way back with this neighborhood. The house on Juniper Terrace that is serving as the residence of the husband and wife played by D'Onofrio and Sedgwick, is Belcevich's childhood home, where his mother, Natasha, still resides.

A 1996 graduate of Lakeland Regional High School and a graduate of Rutgers University, Belcevich took some time to speak to Suburban Trends on Thursday, from the crew's lunch tent, which has been set up just around the bend in Pioneer Park/Painted Forest on Poplar Drive.

"I used to play here every day growing up," said Belcevich.

The film's shoot wasn't thwarted by Thursday's unexpected morning snowstorm, which wreaked havoc on roads throughout the area.

In fact, "Chlorine" producer Chris Beatty (who originally hails from Wayne), related that the timing of the storm was ideal, as the footage being shot on Thursday was from the final scenes of the movie – a leap ahead of three months in the plot's time from the snow-free scenes shot on Wednesday.

The freshly fallen snow also helped to emphasize the setting of the natural landscape – an important part of "Chlorine," which Belcevich describes as centering around "the plight of [the Lent] family in a small town in the midst of a real estate scandal." The scandal is a Ponzi scheme involving two shady real estate developers who coerce the residents of a fictitious New England town called Copper Canyon, into investing their life savings into their property.

Associate producer Jay Della Valle (also originally from Wayne) said that the film aims to capture the vibe of a small, gossipy Connecticut town, and involves a large ensemble cast, with many tie-in situations where "everyone is involved."

Della Valle said that the focus on an investment scheme is quite relevant today, and is "something that will hit home for a lot of people." Full article

CHLORINE with Vincent D'Onofrio, Kyra Sedgwick, & Deborah TAXI!

Have you ever wondered who sat in a taxi before you? In Deborah Taxi, Vincent D'Onofrio was there first!
Last sunday, I had the pleasure of being asked to take part in the filming of the movie CHLORINE coming out this year with Vincent D'Onofrio, Kyra Sedgwick. It was a small part in which I had to deliver Vincent D'Onofrio home. He went inside the house and came out to argue with his wife, played by Kyra Sedgwick, on his way back to his taxi. I wonder if they will edit the pics to erase my smiling faces from my unusual taxi?!

Can't believe they've wrapped it up so soon after we found out they were even filming. Unless the rest is studio stuff.
