The end of an era on Criminal Intent

Two Tivos To Paradise 03.26.10: A Lock for the TV News Final Four

The new season of Law and Order: Criminal Intent begins on Tuesday at 10 pm with part one of a two part episode that facilitates the exits of Detectives Goren and Eames as well as Captain Ross. While both sides played nice publicly, it was reported that USA wanted Vincent D'Onofrio and Kathryn Erbe to take pay cuts, and when they wouldn't the network decided to bump Jeff Goldblum's Detective Nichols to full time status. There were also rumors that the network wanted to lighten the series a bit, which would have been difficult with the gravitas D'Onofrio had established in his performance. New additions this season include Oscar nominee Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio as the new Captain and Saffron Burroughs (Boston Legal, My Own Worst Enemy) as Goldblum's new partner.

I have seen the two part episode that opens the season and wish I could tell you that the episode does justice to the roles that D'Onofrio and Erbe have brought to life these past eight seasons and that their exits provide some level of closure for their characters as well as for the audience. I wish I could but sadly I cannot; these two hours were everything that annoys me about CI, with a ridiculous storyline that is both over the top and incredibly unrealistic. Full article

Thanks Linda!

Maybe he's just a hater . . .

Now this has me wondering -Do I really want to watch this Tues. night? I guess I just have to remember who we are dealing with..What is wrong with Dick Wolf and the writers?? How I hope my feeling don't match Al Norton's, if I can bring myself to watch this.

I don't think he's hater. He sound more like he expected a better send off for Goren and Eames, and he doesn't think the plotline offered that or did them justice.

And based on what I've seen of the plot (some Middle Eastern guy shooting off a grenade launcher at a ship in New York harbor),it does seem ridiculous.

I am worried that there will not be closure for our beloved characters....

That review of the CI opener and final makes me sad.

I really hope Alex and Bobby will get a final they deserve for eight years of phenomenal work.

Actually I tend to think these epis will just content a lot of shootings, explosions and big bangs in effort to make fans forget that this will be THE END of Goren/Eames and Ross!!!!

Since USA are already behaving as if Vincent and Kate never existed, I guess anything is possible, but as far as I'm concerned, it will be the ultimate INSULT both to them, and the fans, if their send-off turns out to be a load of old twaddle. They/we deserve another 'Wee Small' not another 'All In'.

This was such a great show. How can these idiots have ruined it so quickly?
