Law & Order Criminal Intent: Det. Robert Goren's Last Episode

If you're as big of a fan as I am of the entire Law & Order series, you know that Law & Order: Criminal Intent is unique in it's approach to the crimes and criminals it highlights.

For 8 years, Detective Goren, played by Vincent D'Onofrio, has brought a psychological approach to solving major cases that has helped the show stay riveting and dramatic. Tonight marks an important shift in the show as Detective Goren solves his last case. He will be leaving the series after a "final bow" on tonight's conclusion of the 2-part premier.

Not so long ago, Jeff Goldblum replaced Chris Noth and, after tonight, I doubt the cast will look even remotely familiar. As a huge fan of Vincent D'Onofrio, I'm wondering how the series will survive. He brought a sort of crazy edge to the more straight-laced characters that made every episode intellectually intriguing. His character also made 'Criminal Intent' stand out from other Law & Order shows. His amazing portrayal of a man teetering on the edge of sanity made him a more believable and relatable character than ones that always stay on the "right side of the law."

It remains to be seen if Goldblum can carry the show but I'll be looking forward to reruns that include D'Onofrio. They will be running on the USA Network, channel 50 for Charter Cable users in the Glendale area.

Thanks Linda!
