Video: More George Gerkie concert for Meth Cops Project

#3- Vincent D'Onofrio as George Gerkie. There's about 15 seconds in the middle of this clip that are not focused on him, sorry, no idea what happened.

#4 - I missed the beginning of his speech, but basically GGG was talking about his mechanic named Jesus who is a "little person", what a riot! Towards the end of the clip, he was completely blocked, sorry. You can't really see him, but hey, at least you can still hear him.

Thank you Tricia!

About Don't Go in the Woods
An indie rock band of five young men heads into the woods for a weekend of creative inspiration away from modern distractions. New songs are sung and written but female groupies crash the creative jam session causing distraction. In traditional slasher movie style, characters begin disappearing and are violently killed by a crazed murderer. Unlike a traditional horror film, Don't Go in the Woods is a musical with scenes of characters singing while being murdered. The film oozes with thrills and a dark sense of humor and features original music by singer/songwriter Sam Bisbee, and a cast of young, talented musicians making their acting debuts.

OK ladies, here he is... the one and only George Gerkie!! He was too funny! What a concert, if it wasn't for the fact that we had perhaps the shittiest seats in the house, things would have been perfect!

Once again, sorry about the shitty seats! The nice people behind me let me set up my camera on their table so I could at least get a glimpse of him. So it's not me you hear giggling this time :). This clip is THE BEST one! I LOVE the analogy, he's such a trip!

Vampire craze lives on ...

Elizabeth Hurley...the Vampire?
by Ryan Turek, July 23, 2010

Some interesting casting updates on a project that has been gestating since late 2008.

When we first told you about High Midnight, the vampire western directed by Pet Sematary's Mary Lambert, we had learned William Baldwin, Thomas Kretschmann, Ted Raimi and Kevin Weisman were the first to join the cast.

An exec at production outfit Treasure Entertainment has informed us that Vincent D'Onofrio, Elizabeth Hurley (!), Taylor Nichols and Emilio Rivera are also set to star.

Hurley has been sporadic in her film appearances over the last decade having starred in films like Serving Sara and Method. Recently, she was attached to voice a character in the animated The Wild Bunch.

We're not certain how close High Midnight is to filming. We'll keep you posted!

Vincent D'Onofrio to Take Part in Detox Program for 9/11 Heroes

Wenn, July 22 --

"I'm gonna go through the detox program with a bunch of firefighters and cops in New York just so I know what it's like,' the TV star showed his solidarity."

Former "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" star Vincent D'Onofrio has signed up to go through the detox program firefighters and police officers who experienced the horrors of 9/11 undertake - so he can show his solidarity.

The actor, whose stepfather was a fireman, was among the first wave of celebrities asked to help raise morale at Ground Zero after the 2001 terrorist attacks on New York and he has always felt close to the men and women who showed so much courage in the wake of the disaster.

And, now he's in between movies, D'Onofrio plans to spend much of August detoxing with one of the charity causes he regularly helps to raise funds for - The Heroes Health Project. He tells WENN, "One of the things that I always knew about my stepdad was he was so different than I was. I'm not that kind of a man. I don't go running into burning buildings when everybody else is running out. I run out too."

"These guys are exactly like him. They don't whine, they don't ask for help and they need it, so I try to ask for help for them. When 9/11 happened, the U.S. Marshalls put together a list of people to come down to Ground Zero to help raise morale when they weren't finding anybody alive. I was on that list and all I did for 20-something hours was talk to them. I'm gonna go through the detox program with a bunch of firefighters and cops in New York just so I know what it's like."

"It's a long, expensive thing that takes up to six or seven weeks to get through and I'm gonna do it. I heard it's pretty painful at times because releasing these toxins through their bodies puts them through a lot of pain to get it all out and it's a horror but I have some time now, so I think I'm gonna start the first week of next month."

The actor insists he's so proud of the efforts of the cops and firefighters, there's very little he won't do for the heroes he met after 9/11, who are struggling with the memory of the nightmare. He adds, "I know some of the guys who went through it... who I talk to on the phone all the time and, to hear the journey that they've been on - falling ill and then recovering is amazing... I'm working very hard to try and do the right thing for these guys."

Joe’s Pub at the Public Theater
425 Lafayette St, NYC 10003

The Heroes Health Project is an extraordinary foundation set up to provide unique help through a successful detoxification program to uniformed personnel who suffer as a result of toxic exposure while in the line of duty. Thousands of police officers and firefighters exposed to toxic methamphetamine labs and soldiers exposed to burn pits in Iraq and Afghanistan are suffering.

It is our intent to help those who have put their lives on the line for their community and country and who have put the welfare of others before their own. They were the heroes we looked to whenever help was needed and who, in providing that help, lost their own health and quality of life.

It is time to give back. We owe them. Please join us in this worthwhile endeavor by donating to the cause.

Judge Judy prefers Vincent's CI episodes

By Scott Bowles, USA TODAY

Judge Judy: No one gets the best of her in court, in ratings

LOS ANGELES — The defendant has stepped in it now.

"I never lie!" he says, raising his voice and a finger Judith Sheindlin's way.

The courtroom goes quiet as spectators realize the man is done for. Sheindlin —Judge Judy to anyone who owns a television set — stiffens in her seat, not sure what she just heard. "Excuse me?" she asks, raising an eyebrow, giving that look like you just interrupted her putt.

....ut spend a couple of days in her courtroom, and it's clear that Sheindlin isn't all fang and claw. She may work 52 days a year as America's favorite judge, jury and hector, but the 67-year-old can be every part grandmother and semi-retiree.

She and her husband, Jerry Sheindlin (who served two years as judge over The People's Court), summer in Connecticut and winter in Florida. They're usually in bed by 10 p.m. to watch Sheindlin's one TV addiction, Law & Order: Criminal Intent (the episodes with Vincent D'Onofrio, not that Jeff Goldblum fellow).

It Don't Pay To Be An Honest Citizen' screens in the Hamptons

Hamptons.com

Southampton - At a time when "independent" films often feature well-known actors and high production values, the Parrish Art Museum is presenting "It Don't Pay to be an Honest Citizen," a 1984 film by New York filmmaker Jacob Burckhardt that brings back the freewheeling, low-budget days of early independent filmmaking. Called by the Village Voice "a remarkable first feature," the 78-minute film will screen Friday, July 16, at 8 p.m. Director Burckhardt will be present to introduce the program.

"It Don't Pay to be an Honest Citizen" is based on a true story - the mugging of the filmmaker in Red Hook in 1978. "There were few people in the movie who were 'professional' actors," according to Burckhardt. "William (Burroughs) and Allen (Ginsburg) weren't trained at all, but had incredible presence....A lot of the small roles were guys I knew from around the neighborhood or friends who I thought looked good in the part."

"The ferocious greasy spoon counterman is Rackstraw Downes, a well known painter," notes Burckhardt. Downes is currently the focus of three art exhibitions in the tri-state area, including the Parrish's current exhibition Rackstraw Downes: Onsite Paintings, 1972-2008. One professional actor, then unknown, was Vincent D'Onofrio, a bartender in the neighborhood at the time. D'Onofrio didn't get the lead because "he was too big and tough looking - but he was a good actor so I asked him to play one of the muggers."

Burckhardt has been called "a second generation observer of New York life." His father Rudy Burckhardt was a filmmaker and photographer who took as his subject New York City and his New York School artist friends. When asked if he was influenced by his father, Jacob said, "I would say my filmmaking style was influenced by his filmmaking style. Work fast, don't let your collaborators get bored. All you need to make a movie is a camera and some film. There's a lot of inspiration in what's happening in the streets around you."

"It Don't Pay to be an Honest Citizen" captures the Red Hook community in transition, after containerization had brought an end to the longshoreman culture and weakened local gangs like the Gallos, but before gentrification took over. Filmed along the waterfront, it showcases now defunct bars and luncheonettes, familiar landmarks, and vanished buildings. One scene was shot inside an abandoned church once famous as a Gallo hangout but since destroyed.

Tickets for "It Don't Pay to be an Honest Citizen" are $5 for Parrish members, $7 for non-members.

Thanks Linda!

Melanie Basich, POLICE senior editor, interviews actor Vincent D'Onofrio about his work with the Utah Meth Cops Project, a treatment program for officers who have been exposed to toxins while busting meth labs.

The Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association (FLEOA) recently held its 2010 national conference in Henderson, Nev. FLEOA is a volunteer organization that provides legal assistance and representation for its members. Federal officers do not have union support like municipal, county, and state law enforcement officers, so FLEOA fills this need for its members and advocates for legislation important to them. In fact, FLEOA's unified voice led to the Special Agent Samuel Hicks Families of Fallen Heroes Act being signed into law on June 1, 2010.

FLEOA, Vincent D'Onofrio Support Detox Program for Meth Cops

PoliceMag.com, 7.6.10

The Utah Meth Cops Project exists to treat law enforcement officers who have been repeatedly exposed to toxins in methamphetamine labs on the job. At its national conference this May, the Federal Law Enforcement Officers Association (FLEOA) invited project spokesperson Vincent D'Onofrio and FLEOA members who've gone through the treatment program to speak at the conference and raise awareness.

Begun in 2007, the Utah Meth Cops Project offers free detoxification treatment to police officers at its facilities in Utah. The program was modeled after the Ground Zero Rescue Workers Detoxification Project that helped many first responders affected by 9/11 in New York City and is a part of the Heroes Health Project.

According to the Website www.utah-detox.org, officers in Utah who had busted hundreds of meth labs throughout their careers were experiencing a host of symptoms including frequent headaches, severe acid reflux and esophageal problems, loss of taste and smell, joint pain, insomnia, and depression. Most didn't know the cause, and many otherwise healthy officers have contracted terminal illnesses and died as a result of their exposure.

Detoxification through this program involves speeding up the body's metabolism with nutritional supplements and exercise, followed by sweating the toxins out in a sauna. Participants have experienced black paste coming out of their pores and crystals coming out of their tear ducts during this process.

Sandra Lucas, director of the Utah Meth Cops Project, attended the FLEOA conference and discussed its success rate. It has a 75 percent reduction in symptoms and an increase in quality of life that allows many participants to return to work. Previously fit officers who could barely walk because of breathing problems and other symptoms now lead normal lives.

Lucas worked with Utah Attorney General Mark Shurtleff to spearhead the project and acquire grants and other funding to get it off the ground. She is currently working to expand the program and to raise additional funds so that no first responder will have to pay to get well.

Recognizing the importance of the Utah Meth Cops Project, actor Vincent D'Onofrio has become its spokesperson and is planning to write and produce a short film that will center on the topic to help get the word out. He has a special place in his heart for first responders.

"The man who raised me, my stepfather, was a firefighter," says D'Onofrio. "I was raised by a guy who was a regular guy but who put himself in harm's way. Because of that I considered him a hero."

Known for playing police detective Robert Goren on "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" among other film and television roles, D'Onofrio seeks to use his face and name recognition to bring attention to the need for this project and funding to support it so he can help heroes just like his stepfather.

"These guys and girls don't whine, they don't ask for help, and they're not asking for it now when they really need it," says D'Onofrio. "I'd like to be the person who asks for them."

For more information about this program visit www.utah-detox.org.
