[Video] 'Kill The Irishman' Premieres in Cleveland

The buzz has been building for months, and after 13 years in the making, the movie based on the life of Cleveland Irish mobster Danny Greene comes to life on the silver screen.

Wednesday night, 350 moviegoers lined up at the Cedar Lee Theater in Cleveland Heights for the premiere of "Kill the Irishman".

"We're excited to get to see the whole story from the beginning and see how it was all produced," said Connie Powall.

The movie is based on the book written by Lyndhurst Police Chief Rick Porello, "To Kill the Irishman: The War that Crippled the Mafia."

During the 1970's, the city of Cleveland became a mafia battleground when a turf war broke out between the Irish and Italian mafia.

Collinwood native Danny Greene fought hard to control Cleveland's organized crime scene.

"Danny Greene, even though he was a killer, part of the mob, a cancer on society, this guy was bigger than life, very charismatic," said Chief Porello.

Chief Porello, producer Tommy Reid and actor Ray Stevenson attended the premiere and welcomed the crowd as they made their way inside.
