Vincent D’Onofrio to Star in "Chained" (aka "Rabbit")

Press Release by Envision Media Arts

June 14, 2011 – Hot off of his success on LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT, Vincent D’Onofrio has just signed on to star in Envision Media Art’s new thriller, CHAINED.

D’Onofrio has found success playing such memorable villains in MEN IN BLACK and THE CELL. He got his start playing a recruit in Stanley Kubrick’s FULL METAL JACKET and has appeared in JFK, THE PLAYER and THE BREAK-UP.

In 2001 he took the role which has likely given him his greatest public recognition: Det. Robert Goren, the lead character in the TV series LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT. Goren is based on Sherlock Holmes but, instead of relying upon physical evidence like Holmes, D’Onofrio’s character focuses on psychology to identify the perpetrators, whom he often draws into confessing or yielding condemning evidence.

In CHAINED, D’Onofrio will play the serial killer who abducts an 8-year old boy, murdering his mother and raising him as a reluctant protege. The film is being directed by Jennifer Lynch and produced by Lee Nelson and David Buelow.

Sounds very dark, but I need to watch it.

The plot does sound incredibly cliche for this genre, I do believe LO:CI has had several episodes with similar themes. I guess it's more showcasing the acting than anything and it does seem to be the type of part that Vincent is great at, so hopefully he'll have a lot of great well written scenes. Jennifer Lynch is known for bizarre movies that don't quite meet their potential, hopefully this will be her turning point.

Ooooh, he'll be a great serial killer. He has in the past and will be again. But it would be nice for his next gig to be a love-interest. Maybe have a shower scene. Hey, a girl can dream.

It's a dark role, but it may offer VDO a chance at a Golden Globe, or even an Oscar. Final recognition for the wonderful body of work that he has given us over his career.
