Jay Mohr To Channel Charlie Sheen On 'Law & Order: Criminal Intent'

Deadline.com, 3.29.11
By NELLIE ANDREEVA

EXCLUSIVE: The Law & Order franchise is known for looking at the biggest news headlines for storyline inspiration. This seems to be the case with an episode of the upcoming 10th and final season of Law & Order: Criminal Intent on USA Network, in which Jay Mohr will guest star as a Charlie Sheen-type famous and incredibly successful badboy. Mohr's character, Nyle Brite, is from a different area of the arts: he is a a "rockstar" fashion designer whose every creation turns to gold. His badboy reputation of cocaine benders and call-girl parties only skyrockets his career and mints him as the "lovable rogue." (Sheen's most recent hospitalization that led to the production shutdown on Two and a Half Men and Sheen's subsequent firing from the show followed the now-infamous 36-hour bender with porn stars at his house, which reportedly included large amounts of cocaine.) Since L&O:CI is a crime drama, the plot of the episode includes a murder as a guest at one of Brite's parties turns up dead. Also appearing in the episode, titled Rispetto, is Noelle Beck (As the World Turns) as Debra Brite, Nyle's long-suffering but brilliant wife who has managed to withstand 20years of his antics because she has secrets of her own.

Meanwhile, an upcoming episode of another Law & Order series, L&O: LA, features a storyline inspired by the recent murder of top Hollywood publicist Ronni Chasen. L&O: CI's final season is set to premiere on May 1.

Adorable Vincent D’onofrio, 51, was on The Set of “Law & Order: Criminal Intent” filming in Greenwich Village, New York City March 24th, 2011. Vincent left Criminal Intent in the spring of 2010, with his last appearance occurring in the two-part Season 9 premiere. This is the final season for Law & Order: Criminal Intent and they intend to go out with a bang. The 10th, and final season of the show will feature D’Onofrio returning as Detective Goren and Kathryn Erbe as Detective Eames which is great news as far as I am concerned

They are also said to be lining up many guest stars two that have been confirmed are Neal McDonough and Jeri Ryan. Veteran character actor Jay O. Sanders has been tapped for a major new role on the final season. He will play the new captain of the Major Case Squad and boss to Robert Goren and Alexandra Eames.

The tenth season is expected to have eight episodes and it will premiere May 1st, 2011 at 9PM and the season finale will be on June 26, 2011. Will you be tuning in? I will be, love this show!

Thanks Mike D!

Hempstead House/Castle Gould at Sand's Point Preserve. In 1909, Howard Gould, son of railroad magnate Jay Gould, built a dramatic estate on 300 acres on Sands Point that he called Castle Gould. The castle-like mansion, designed to be a replica of Kilkenny Castle in Ireland, overlooked the Long Island Sound. Gould soon sold it to Daniel Guggenheim, who made his fortune in metals. Guggenheim renamed it Hempstead House. Today, it is part of the Sands Point Preserve, along with Falaise. Interior scenes for the film New Jack City were filmed here.

Anchor Bay plans to expand Kill the Irishman into more theaters this weekend

Box Office Mojo
by Ray Subers, March 14, 2011

After some quiet weeks on the arthouse scene, Jane Eyre and Kill the Irishman did their part to liven things up a bit. Jane Eyre posted the year's top per-theater average for an opening weekend, while Kill the Irishman marked a new high for distributor Anchor Bay Films.

Jane Eyre debuted to $182,885 at four locations for a $45,721 per-theater average. That topped documentary Phil Ochs: There But For Fortune ($18,211) for the year's best average, though that's excluding the premium-priced preview screenings of Kevin Smith's Red State. Jane Eyre's average was a noticeable improvement over distributor Focus Features' Greenberg, which opened around the same time last year and averaged $39,384 at three venues. While official expansion plans aren't available, the Mia Wasikowska-Michael Fassbender drama will be adding at least 18 locations this weekend and at least 54 more the following weekend.

If it wasn't for Jane Eyre, Kill the Irishman would have taken the 2011 crown for top average: the true crime drama opened to $145,430 at five theaters for a strong average of $29,086. Starring Ray Stevenson, Christopher Walken and Val Kilmer, the movie topped Frozen to become distributor Anchor Bay's highest opening ever. Also, it had the second-best average ever for the distributor behind Solitary Man from last May.

Anchor Bay plans to expand Kill the Irishman into more theaters this weekend and was high on the movie's performance thus far. "We are extremely pleased with the response we've received on Kill the Irishman," commented Bill Clark, President of Anchor Bay Entertainment, in a press release. "We knew audiences would love this film. It has a great cast and a great storyline."

Anchor Bay Films Bumps the Competition With Its Box Office Take for Kill The Irishman

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., March 14, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Anchor Bay Films opened its latest film, Kill the Irishman, to extremely strong per screen averages this past weekend. The film brought in an average of $29,086 per screen and is the second highest per screen average this year. It is currently on five screens and will open wider this next weekend.

"We are extremely pleased with the response we've received on Kill the Irishman," commented Bill Clark, President of Anchor Bay Entertainment. "We knew audiences would love this film. It has a great cast and a great storyline."

Over the summer of 1976, thirty-six bombs detonate in the heart of Cleveland while a turf war raged between Irish mobster Danny Greene (Ray Stevenson) and the Italian mafia. Based on a true story, Kill the Irishman chronicles Greene's heroic rise from a tough Cleveland neighborhood to become an enforcer in the local mob. Turning the tables on loan shark Shondor Birns (Christopher Walken) and allying himself with gangster John Nardi (Vincent D'Onofrio), Greene stops taking orders from the mafia and pursues his own power. Surviving countless assassination attempts from the mob and killing off anyone who went after him in retaliation, Danny Greene's infamous invincibility and notorious fearlessness eventually led to the collapse of mafia syndicates across the U.S. and also earned him the status of the man the mob couldn't kill.

Written and directed by Jonathan Hensleigh and also starring Val Kilmer, Paul Sorvino and Linda Cardellini, Kill the Irishman is inspired by Rick Porrello's true crime account To Kill the Irishman: The War That Crippled the Mafia. Kill the Irishman is a Code Entertainment Production in association with Dundee Productions.
