Greta Scacchi and Leila George appear in "The Seagull"

Leila George and Greta Scacchi with Michael White at the premiere of The Last Impresario

The Seagull will mark Scacchi's return to the Australian stage eight months after the excruciating back injury that forced her withdrawal from Sydney Theatre Company's production of David Williamson's Travelling North on the day of the play's first preview. Scacchi's mortification is still almost palpable: "Awful." She puts her hands over her face and groans. "Let's go back to my daughter doing this play," she suggests in her sweet, almost childlike way.

A graduate of the Lee Strasberg method acting school in New York, 22-year-old Leila George is Scacchi's daughter with American actor and Law & Order star Vincent D'Onofrio. Scacchi had been in a five-year relationship with the musician Tim Finn ("A very nice and civilised partner") when she met D'Onofrio on the set of the Gillian Armstrong film Fires Within and fell - plummeted - in love.

Greta Scacchi will appear in The Seagull with her daughter, Leila George, at the Black Swan Theatre Company in Australia.

I've always loved Greta, though her break up with Vincent has had many variations over the years. I didn't know about her back injury or that Leila had graduated from drama school. I wish them both the best in the play.

Leila is absolutely gorgeous.
On a site note: Is it just me or does Greta look a lot like Carin in this pic? ;-)

I hadn't noticed but she does a bit in this pic. Agreed, Leila is stunning.

I would say it's probably not a good thing to compare Greta & Carin. I don't think either would like it. I would say they both have five letters in their name & that's it.
