Vincent D’Onofrio, Wagner Moura and Haley Bennett are also going to be in the Western remake, which is going to be an updated version of the 1960 movie that starred Yul Brynner, Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson and Robert Vaughn. Antoine Fuqua is going to be directing this remake, and Antoine previously helmed such projects as Training Day, Shooter, The Equalizer, Olympus Has Fallen and Brooklyn’s Finest.
The screenplay is going to be written by John Lee Hancock and Nic Pizzolatto, and this new version’s story will begin with a woman (Bennett) hiring a disparate group of anti-heroes and gunslingers to defend her town from violent bandits.
Momoa will play one of the movie’s bad guys, although the main villain, a robber baron, has yet to be cast. Although, the cast for this production is already looking to be pretty magnificent. There have not been very many black men starring in Westerns, being directed by a black man, so seeing how this film will develop should prove to be quite interesting.
The movie is galloping ahead of a start in late May. Producing are Roger Birnbaum and Todd Black with Walter Mirisch and Fuqua serving as executive producers.
Momoa, who stars in SundanceTV’s The Red Road television series, was able to snatch the high-profile role of Aquaman last year and will portray the DC character in a series of blockbuster movies, starting with a cameo in the upcoming Batman v Superman. The actor is already set to appear in The Justice League Part One and the character’s own solo movie.
It is also being reported that Korean actor Byung-hun Lee is in negotiations to join the cast as well. Lee is a Korean actor who played the character Storm Shadow in the G.I. Joe movies as well as a role in Red 2. He will next be seen in Terminator Genisys and recently wrapped on the thriller Beyond Deceit.

I wonder if they're following the original characters or not. Hard to tell without the character names.
