Last year, Lifetime announced that James Franco would exec produce a remake of perhaps the most beloved bad Lifetime movie ever, 1996’s Mother, May I Sleep With Danger? starring Tori Spelling.
While the original was a fairly standard woman-in-peril caper — Laurel (Spelling) meets dream boy (Ivan Sergei), only to discover that he’s a crazy-controlling psycho — Franco’s take on Mother May I is, for lack of a better term, bats***. “This updated classic features a vampire love story that brings a whole new meaning to “sleeping with danger,” says Lifetime in a press release. The network’s full description:
When theater major Leah (Leila George), brings home the special someone in her life to meet her mom, Julie (Tori Spelling), the family is met with a surprise when Pearl (Emily Meade) comes to the door. Julie tries to embrace the idea of Leah’s new love interest, but she can’t shake the feeling that something is very wrong. Julie’s suspicions lead to a startling discovery about Pearl that puts Leah in serious danger. Will Julie be able to save her daughter from an eternity of heartache before it’s too late? - source: yahoo
